Kathy Dahlkemper (PA-03)
Kathy Dahlkemper is a committed civic leader, small business owner, and mother of five and brings real life perspective and fresh ideas to the table.
Kathy helped create the Lake Erie Arboretum at Frontier Park (LEAF). She has served as Director of LEAF for the past ten years and has overseen the countless educational and recreational programs that take place at the facility. She is also credited with bringing in over two million dollars to the organization. Dahlkemper also serves as Director of Human Resources and Special Projects to her family-owned business, Dahlkemper Landscape Architects & Contractors. As a successful small business owner, Kathy is committed to creating an environment for job growth in Pennsylvania's 3rd district.
Helping children, families and individuals is a lifelong mission for Kathy. Through her work with the Girl Scouts of America, she has been an active force and positive female role model. Kathy also volunteers as a teacher with the Worldwide Marriage Encounter, which aims to strengthen families.
Kathy has a Bachelor of Science degree from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania. She lives with her husband Dan in Erie and they have five children.
In late April, Kathy Dahlkemper emerged victorious from a hard-fought, four-person primary race. She is now challenging eight-term incumbent Phil English. English has a significant financial advantage over Dahlkemper, but the DCCC has targeted this race as part of its Red to Blue program. Dahlkemper says she made the decision to enter politics for the first time this year to counter English’s consistently pro-war record.
It is Democrats like Kathy, from Republican districts ready for change, who will help build the majority in Congress that President Obama will need.
